Barcelona Tortilla Tour: 5 Must-Try Tortilla Spots

Barcelona is known for its incredible food scene, but if there's one thing that never disappoints, it's hunting down a great Spanish tortilla. After trying several spots around the city, these were the tortillas that impressed us the most: creamy, creative, and packed with flavor.

One thing really stood out to me. Unlike Madrid, where tortilla slices are usually served with simple bread, in Barcelona they're often paired with pa amb tomàquet, the classic Catalan bread rubbed with tomato, olive oil, and salt, which somehow makes the whole experience even better.

We've marked our favorite tortilla spots across Barcelona so you can easily find them and decide for yourself which one deserves the crown.

📍Mantequerias Pirenaicas

A must-visit for any tortilla lover. Here, the tortillas are thick, incredibly creamy, and made with ingredients that completely change the game. The classic version with caramelized onions is unbelievable, but they also offer creative combinations with truffle, brie, sobrasada, and black sausage.

  • Location: C/ de Muntaner, 460 – Sarrià-Sant Gervasi

  • Approximate price per slice: €4 to €6

  • Standout flavors: Truffle, Iberian ham, brie, sobrasada, and black sausage.

📍Bar Bocata 1 Travessera

This bar has that classic tapas atmosphere that never fails. The tortilla stands out for its perfect texture and pairs beautifully with a good vermouth or an ice-cold beer.

  • Location: Travessera de Gràcia, 86

  • Approximate price per slice: €4 to €5

  • Standout flavors: Classic tortilla, onion tortilla, and daily specials.

📍Los Tortíllez | Eixample

Probably the most creative stop on this tour. If you're looking for unique and original tortillas, this is the place. They offer countless combinations and are constantly rotating flavors. It's the perfect spot to order a few different slices and share them with friends.

  • Location: Carrer del Consell de Cent, 299 – Eixample

  • Approximate price per slice: €5 to €7

  • Standout flavors: Ground beef, truffle, cheese, chorizo, and seasonal specials.

📍Bar La Principal

More than just a tapas bar, this place has an amazing atmosphere whether you visit during the day or at night. Their tortilla is simple but beautifully executed: creamy, flavorful, and perfect alongside a glass of wine.

  • Location: Carrer de Sepúlveda, 186 – Eixample

  • Approximate price per slice: €3.50 to €5

  • Standout flavors: Traditional potato tortilla with onions.

📍El Xampanyet

An absolute Barcelona classic. While it's best known for its tapas and cava, the tortilla is also well worth trying. The atmosphere feels authentic and yes, it's popular with tourists, but it still manages to retain plenty of local charm.

  • Location: Carrer de Montcada, 22 – Ciutat Vella

  • Approximate price per slice: €4 to €6

  • Standout flavors: Traditional onion tortilla.

💬 Which One Was Our Favorite?

If we had to pick just one, Mantequerías Pirenaicas takes the crown thanks to its incredible texture and creativity.

But if you're looking for a completely different experience and want to try some truly unique flavors, then Los Tortíllez is an absolute must.
